i have 2 nintendo DS's, the basic kind not 3D or Lite, and i also have pokemon emerald and fire red. The Nintendo DS doesn't have those kinds of cables. You'll need to buy two GBAs and a GBA cable. Sorry, there's no other way, because the DS uses Wireless features so Nintendo didn't make cables for those (and no, the cables are NOT compatible with the DS, only Gameboy series) =/.
