Here are some:
1. It makes you a noob
2. You might start doing major cheats later online
3. It sucks the fun out of the games
4. It can delete your game
5. It can make your game stop working ever again
6. You won't be able to use hacked Pokemon on WiFi so there's no point in trying
7. It can give you a Bad Egg, which replaces all your Pokemon with itself, and when hatched, it deletes your save file, it's a punishment Nintendo and Gamefreak put in for cheaters
The reason it can harm your game is because it alters the game's coding. Then the game becomes "aware" that there's coding that isn't quite right or isn't supposed to be in the game. So the game either deletes itself to wipe the whole bad coding away and "cleaning" the game and making it normal, or the game malfunctions and just stops working. Overall, if I were you, I'd stay away from it. And in most cases cheating's for noobs anyways.
Action replays are relatively harmless, unless you're not smart with it. Nothing bad will happen (most likely) as long as you don't do the following:
-Mess with the game too much, like using 10 weird codes at once
-Saving in a place you're NOT supposed to be (it's okay to go there, just be sure to leave)
-Uploading strange codes from the internet (if you want a code, be sure to find a reliable website for 'em)
Your game will freeze occasionally, but that's normal. It won't damage your game at all alone. Just be smart with it and you'll be fine. How does Action Replay damage games? Specifically Pokemon games? What are the Consequences?
Well hacking alters the coding of the game. Most stuff will not bother it but it does mess up your save in a fashion that if you ever try to do or go to a nintendo event it will not let you. Also in B/W you cannot use the global battle union, GTS, dream world, game synch, and you can NEVER enter an official event. And I have also heard that you can not download event pokemon down the road either.
Most of the time your game will act fine. Sometimes if done poorly it will either corrupt your save forcing you to start a new game or make it unplayable.
Also hacking is looked down upon in pretty much every circuit and no one will want to battle cheaters. I personally get challenged a lot by people who hack a team of shiny's. I then proceed to wipe the floor with them. Anyone who hacks to play other people shows a glaring lack of ability to actually battle and it shows when you beat them 4-6.How does Action Replay damage games? It depends what you do with it. I've already erased an entire file on a Gamecube memory card, which is similar to a Gameboy cartridge. I suggest playing Pokemon on an emulator. It's not recommended, though, as it's illegal, unless you make your own ROM with your cartridge.
